Photographs and Photo Albums

Any type of photograph can be digitized.

• Paper photographs

We typically scan at 300 dpi but you can upgrade to 600 dpi if you are looking to enlarge a photo or view it full size on a larger screen. Your scanned photographs will be provided on a USB Flash Drive.

These will be accessible on a PC allowing you to print them at your leisure. Many televisions will also allow a slideshow playback.

Our restoration service may be used to enhance the quality of the scans. We offer:

• colour correction
• removal of spots and blemishes enhancement
• brightness & contrast enhancement
• shadow & highlights enhancement
• red eye removal

Our speciality is digitising collections of Photograph Albums. Just imagine what could happen to your precious memories if your home suffered from fire or water damage. All your digital collections will fit onto one USB Flash Drive. By giving copies to your children, parents or brothers and sisters they will never be lost.

• No need for you to remove the photographs from the albums and potentially have their order disrupted and the photos damaged. There is a small additional charge for this.
• We will then scan at 600dpi, trim and enhance
• You can then further crop the photographs in order to print them.
• Rename and reorganise. This will be invaluable for future generations who wish to trace their ancestry
• Give your children and relatives copies

You also have the option of us turning your favourite photos into what we call a Photomontage. Slideshows are OK but can be a little boring. Be assured this is MUCH better than the slideshows you can produce yourself with the freebie programs that come with your computer.

Slides and Transparencies

We can scan your mounted or unmounted 35mm slides or strips of negative or positive transparencies.

• With our enhanced service, slides are scanned at 4000dpi which captures sufficient detail for making a full page A4 print or if you need to crop or manipulate the image.
• We can also digitise most other sizes and types of slides or transparencies.

• The original scan after trimming and artefact removal.
• The second version shows Basic Enhancement which is provided as standard.
• Version 3 shows what can be achieved with a higher level of enhancement.

VHS and Camcorder Videos to USB Flash Drive

Somewhere in your house is a drawer full of videotapes - aging home movies shot with a big, bulky camcorder that may not even work anymore.

It is a sad fact, but magnetic tapes do not last forever. They start to degrade after only a couple of years, and after a few more years, you will begin to see a noticeable difference in the video quality.

You may notice that your wedding video is not as sharp as it used to be, or there is some intermittent snow in the video, colour distortion, or even missing parts on the tape.

Soon you will not even be able to play your video at all! So what can you do to preserve your precious memories?

USB Flash Drives offer many advantages such as:

• There is no magnetic coating that can wear away with each use, which is the case with tapes
• Quick forward/backward scanning and searching
• USB Flash Drives take up less space than VHS tapes

• Since USB Flash Drives are digital, any copies are exactly the same as the original with no loss of quality!
• A USB Flash Drive can be put into a computer so that you can capture still scenes from the video for printing photos.
• If handled properly a USB Flash Drive can last over 100 years!

This is NOT the simple type of slideshow that makes family and friends start yawning and thinking of excuses to go home! It is guaranteed to hold their attention and want to watch it again.

We take your photographs (or videos) and blend them smoothly with seamless transitions, into a movie - scanning across groups of friends or relatives or zooming into faces or places of interest.

Each photo is treated individually by us, giving the photomontage a very personal touch. Choose some music related to the content of the photos or simply have your favourite music playing in the background. You may even wish to record your own background commentary.

What you get

• Your photographs will be scanned and then converted to a movie montage
• They may be either b/w or colour prints or images from a digital camera (supplied on CD/USB). Negatives or slides can be used but at an additional cost
• Each photograph is treated individually so that the motion effects enhance the photograph by homing in or out of points of interest.
• For the best results, the photos should be split into Chapters of 20-50
• Music of your choice is added to complement the movie.
• Before the Photomontage is finalised you will be provided with a preview copy in order to make any minor alterations required or add captions to the photos.

Data Recovery

We can also recover photos and other data that has been accidentally deleted from a camera or laptop.

Prices are from £10.00 but the cost to restore your photo will depend on the condition it is in, the amount of damage and the level of detail in the damaged areas. Please phone or email for further information.

If this has happened to you it is extremely important that you do not use the memory card or hard drive otherwise you may overwrite the lost data and it will be lost for good!
